Why Alpha Kappa Psi?
“Not only was Alpha Kappa Psi the most enriching and rewarding experience of my time at college, it was also the launching pad to my career. Leadership, communication, and adaptability are just a few to the amazing skills I’ve gained by being a part of this organization. Above all are the lasting friendships I’ve formed with brothers from all over the country.” – Alumna Cherie Harshman
“Businesses invest in people, not ‘things’. There’s no better place to begin your investment in your future than through AKPsi.” – Faculty Advisor Bill Kohler
“As a reserved person coming into college, AKPsi helped me open up and meet great professionals at the same time. If it weren’t for the opportunities I got from this organization I wouldn’t have the job I have today nor would I have the great friends I have today. I am really grateful for all AKPsi has given me!” – Alumna Shruthi Ajjampur
About the Pledge Process
The pledge program is designed both to educate pledges about Alpha Kappa Psi and familiarize each pledge with the brothers and traditions of the Eta Rho Chapter. As with any organization, knowledge of its history is necessary in the planning of its future. As a pledge, you will learn a great deal of the one hundred year history of Alpha Kappa Psi. You will be instructed in the ways that the Eta Rho Chapter is managed and build relationships with your pledge class, current brothers and alumni. The training and experience of the pledge program will give you the tools necessary to take leadership positions both as a member of Alpha Kappa Psi and in other professional and personal situations.
At most times during the pledge program you can expect to spend a couple hours a week working on various responsibilities. This includes one meeting each week (approximately one hour in length) and another two to three hours on other functions that will go toward fulfilling your pledge requirements and personal professional growth. Eta Rho strives to make every moment that is spent purposeful; in other words, there is a true time commitment, but the advantages in education, friendship and the building of work ethic are invaluable.
